When I couldn't find a way to reach out to Facebook, I decided to use my story, voice, and platform to shed light on a situation faced by people around the world.
My friend and colleague, a former English and alternative education teacher in Oklahoma City Public Schools, who is now the editor of the Oklahoma City Free Press, read my pitch in a Twitter DM and agreed to publish my first person narrative.
