Students will define essential components of Gothic Horror short stories, including suspense, atmosphere, character development, and conflict. Students will also examine Gothic settings, including elements like decaying structures, eerie shadows, and a sense of foreboding. Students will learn about character traits such as melodramatic, brooding, isolated characters with motivations like revenge, obsession, or ambition, and conflicts that could be internal or external.
